I can never forget the day I took my friend Laraine to Candy’s Café in Cagayan de Oro City. She was having personal problems with her boyfriend so I decided to cheer her up by treating her to dessert at my favorite restaurant.

As I ordered three kinds of cake namely Tartufo, Hazelnut, and Toffee Coffee, Laraine started blurting about how hurt she was with her love problems. After a few minutes of hearing her sad anecdotes, the cakes were served. While she picked on a small piece of the Hazelnut cake, she was still mumbling about her boyfriend. When she tasted the cake, she suddenly stopped and said, “Hala! What is this?”

I asked her what her problem was and she said, “This is so delicious! It will make you forget your problem!”

True enough, we enjoyed eating the three slices of cake which were then priced at around 200 pesos per slice. We never talked about boy problems as we savored the cakes which had the right kind of sweetness I never found in any other cake in the world.

Candy’s Café also offers a variety of uniquely scrumptious meals ranging from pasta, pizza, sandwiches, Filipino and American food. They also serve all kinds of beverages from soft drinks, juices, shakes, coffee and alcohol. Though they may have a pricey menu (meals may vary from P200 to P400), every meal can be shared by two or three people therefore you actually save money if you are dining with a couple of friends. It is the favorite hangout of respectable people in Cagayan de Oro City because of its cozy ambiance and great food.

Candy’s Café is open every day at 10:00 a.m. till midnight. It is located at Rosario Arcade, Lim Ket Kai Mall. After a day of hard shopping, it would be great to relax in this place with the very accommodating staff. You can choose to sit inside the restaurant or outside where comfy chairs are neatly placed. It is also the best place for business meetings and intimate dining.
