Huling Tawad: a story of love lost and a love found
Altair Macatiag's "Huling Tawad" (Last Haggle) can be a cliche; however, the film never failed to touch someone's heart as it shows the story of forgiveness and reconciliation.
The three minute film of newbie Altair Macatiag and a competitor for the 180 Cinema Festival is an old concept but properly repackaged to fit the audience's taste. It is a story of two lovers (played by Abet Umil and Joanna Lerio) whose love has gone "out of tune" and had had a bitter ending. However, one time, in a music store in Sta. Mesa, Manila, they had this moment of re-tuning as the girl forgives the boy and their song has been playing again.
The movie is a combination of a good story line and good setting, not to mention an almost perfect musical scoring--thanks to the film's sound and musical scorer, Mark Christopher Ramirez and Joselito Gerardino. Kudos, too, to its creative director and producer, Divina Nova Joy de la Cruz for her wonderful work of adding to the creativeness of the movie. How can a story of a lifetime can be fitted in a film that only runs for 180 whole seconds? Technically-wise, the film has a good film angling and the setting is nice. This, for me, is a must-see movie and this reviewer hopes that it would win the competition for it is truly Pinoy.
