Shalani Soledad gets married to Rep. Roman Romulo at Laguna City

Pasig City Representative Roman Romulo and Valenzuela City Councilor Shalani Soledad have tied the knot Sunday after just a few months of courtship. The exchange of vows was done at the St. Benedict Church at the Ayala Westgrove, Laguna City.

 

“I’m very happy that I’ve found you,” the 44-year-old Romulo said in the exchange of vows.

 

“I promise to love you from now on until forever,” 31-year-old Soledad answered.

 

Soledad came into the church in a simple yet elegant gown created by designer Inno Sotto and shoes made by Lila Almario.

 

Romulo was handsomely dressed in a white shirt, gray bow tie and midnight-blue tuxedo and a pair of black leather shoes by Louis Vuitton.

 

There were 22 sponsors who attended the wedding belonging to the field of politics and business. They included Foreign Secretary Albert del Rosario and Gretchen del Rosario, PLDT-Smart-TV 5 chair Manuel V. Pangilinan and Norma Ona, Sen. Panfilo Lacson and Corazon Ong,  Emilio Yap and former Las Piñas Rep. Cynthia Villar,  Ambassador Antonio Cabangon-Chua and Betty Chua,  San Miguel Corp. president Ramon Ang and Bettina Aboitiz, Roberto del Rosario and Elizabeth Gan-Go, James Sy Gaisano and Lily Lee,  Felix Tuikinhoy Jr. and Maria Jessica Bautista,  Manuel Dy and Natividad Cheng,and Bench founder Ben Chan and Janet Napoles.

 

Shalani came into the wedding twenty minutes late and she was given away by her mother Evelyn Soledad Yumol and her uncle Mon Soledad who looked after her when she was little. Romulo’s parents, former Foreign Secretary Alberto Romulo and Rosie Lovely Tecson-Romulo, were all smiles during the wedding.

 

The ceremony began at 5:45 p.m. and was officiated by Gaudencio Cardinal Rosales, Bishop Mylo Hubert Vergara, Rev. Msgr. Bartolome Santos Jr. and Rev. Fr. Isagani Avinante.

 

The 500-seater church was filled and the mass lasted for an hour.

 

J. Antonio Cabangon, was the best man while the matron of honor was Joy Marie Castellvi.

 

President Benigno Aquino, III was invited to the wedding but did not arrive as he was in Baguio. He instructed his staff to buy the newlyweds a gift instead. He also sent his message recently to the couple that said: “The emphasis has always been to strengthen the family. We believe that a lot of the solutions to the problems of the country will be best addressed by a family that is strong, united and caring to the children that they bring.”
