Microsoft gives back to society through the Virlanie Foundation

Microsoft Philippines held its first Microsoft Philippines Network (MPN) Volunteer Day where their partners and employees went to Virlanie Foundation and celebrated with the Filipino children there who were abandoned, abused and neglected.

This was done in the spirit of Christmas for the children.

“Microsoft believes in the power of helping people, most especially during Christmas,” stated Clarissa Segismundo, Partner Development & Programs Lead, Microsoft Philippines. “Through the first MPN Volunteer Day, we are showing our support to the community by inviting the kids of Virlanie Foundation to celebrate a day filled with happiness, fun and excitement with the Microsoft family.”

Segismundo said that Microsoft has developed a long-term relationship with Virlanie Foundation. “We believe that with this simple gathering, not only will we be able to strengthen our ties with the organization, we are also given the opportunity to put smiles on the faces of many children.”

Virlanie Foundation is an NGO that aids children who have been neglected. They protect them through the provision of donations, homes and programs. They conduct fund-raising activities, look for scholarships and capitalize on human resources.

The activity was participated by 30 children who had fun with games, storytelling activities, arts, and face painting among others.

“We are very happy to have been chosen to partake in the MPN Volunteer Day and we are thankful that Microsoft is continuously giving importance to our children’s happiness,” said Chris Sanchez, Fundraising Officer of the Virlanie Foundation. “The kids will be delighted to join the activities, most especially as they will feel loved and cared for.”

Microsoft invited their partners to take part in the activity. They either signed up as volunteers or sent donations for the said foundation.

“This event is proof that MPN does not end by trading with its partners,” said Segismundo. “We at Microsoft also commit to helping others, most especially our partners and beneficiaries, through innovations and services we provide.”
